Blog Dump 2: OSU Student Union

  1. I see a lot of improvement from last week to this week. It seems like your becoming more confident with your lines and it makes a world of difference. My favorite is the guy sitting in the chair on the bottom right of the second image. The chair is from a really interesting perspective and the exaggeration makes it really fun to look at.

  2. I love the expressions you gave some of these characters! The more perspective shots are really great too.

  3. A strong drawing here is the one of the chair - great perspective and most of all, great job pushing the form's expression - I feel him leaning forward, and I feel the movement that would otherwise be expected in a "sitting drawing".

I like this post because it reminds me of the way I sketch - lots of swooshy lines and unfinished drawings making a haze around more finished drawings. It shows your process and I think it's important to constantly be working like that, keeping attention to lots of different forms before you feel comfortable with drawing a complete one. That being said, try finishing the full anatomy of the incomplete forms before you're done with them - think line of action and head, torso, pelvis. This is something I need to work on too!

  4. Really great stuff... especially the interesting POV of the guy in the seat looking at his laptop. Nice perspective

  5. Definite improvement already. The proportions and actions are much better and clearer in these drawings. I really like the one of the guy leaning on the railing reading a book. It's good that you have his other arm hanging away from his body to clarify the silhouette of the pose. Maybe on this one, define exactly where his elbow is hitting that railing so we can feel more of the weight of his body on it.
